Sadly one of my favorite shows of the new season has been cancelled, My Own Worst Enemy is a show with Christian Slater where he plays some kind of covert operative that has a chip in his head that makes him able to fall into another persona of a family man.
That sysnopsis makes it sound terrible but the show had action and a really original story line.
Another show that got cancelled was Lipstick Jungle, I never watch it but my wife is quiet while watching it off the PVR so that I can surf through every page of the internet so Lipstick Jungles cancellation definitly affects me.
I sure wish people would start watching the show that I like. Last year I watched Studio 60 and it got cancelled. Also last year I was watching Caveman and Carpoolers.
Everyone start watching Fringe, I will be really pissed if that show gets cancelled too

Today I see in the Calgary weather forecast that we are supposed to get our first few flakes of snow of Winter tonight .
As a kid growing up in a Vancouver suburb in the 70’s I had a pretty laid back lifestyle. I stayed out after school as musch as I wanted, played tennis and swam in the pool and played in the park. This morning though I have been thinking about bumper riding.
When I was 9 or 10 I discovered the joys of bumber riding. The snow in Vancouvber is very wet and slippery and happens only a coule of times in the Winter. When the snow falls in Vancouver it really comes down and it slows traffic and the roads turn into a skating rink.
So with a slippery road and slow cars what is a kid to do? Bumper Riding! Read the rest of this entry »

I really like the song Running on Empty by Jackson Brown.
Here are the lyrics
Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels
Looking back at the years gone by like so many summer fields
In sixty-five I was seventeen and running up one-o-one
I don’t know where Im running now, I’m just running on
Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I’m running behind Read the rest of this entry »

I told this to both Daves and forgot about blogging about it.
I did not have dreams in my last house, mostly because I had a bus that would stop in front of our house all night every night and keep my sleeping light, not deeply at all. Now that I have moved to Airdrie it is nice and quiet and I have been dreaming lots.
Most of my dreams involve me being at work naked or at school and not knowing where I am going. The naked dream always is me sitting at work and realizing that I am naked and when I walk around people are a little shocked (as they should be) at my nakedness. I wonder if this dream is because I used to run on airport runways naked after a night of drinking (very bad idea, could lead to prison) or the fact that I did a strip show once at a pizza drink, again after drinking too much.
When I tell my daughter about the naked dream all she says is “Is your penis showing? Can everyone see your penis?” Well yes, I would suspect that is what they are looking at when they are shocked.
The other dream that I have is that I am going to high school but I have missed a bunch of English classes, which could be because I graduated over 20 years ago, and do not know my locker number or even where my class is.
So earlier this week we had a dream that I was Superman-like. I could jump up and start flying, this was a great dream and one I never had. I did not have any special powers like x-ray vision or burning eye rays or anything.
So hopefully in the future I have less of the naked dreams as well as those stupid school dreams and more super hero dreams. My question though is, how can I have more interesting dreams? I know years back the nicotine patches that I used to try to quit smoking worked well, maybe I can get more of those.

I always feel like American politicians are taking shots at me as a Canadian because we have a nationalized Health care system and the US is this great and unfettered free market. One of the real problems with not nationalizing some services is that the free market has to look at profit even when it hurts people. I know Adam Smith may be right but not always.
So I had to laugh a bit this weekend when I saw that the US Government is stepping in to the US mortgage markets big time by seizing control of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and therefore nationalizing the mortgage markets. Again I know that this is important but I also sure hope that it is a sign that the US is going to take it’s people at least as seriously as the big shots running the big industrials and the banking sector in the stats.

I just watched a trailer for the new movie called “Choke” it looks good.
Why do I care about Choke? Well it is written by Chuck Palahniuk who wrote Fight Club. I consider Fight Club to be the greatest single movie that I have ever seen, it even made Ed Norton sexy.
Anyway, I was at Chuck Palahniuks site and saw that this movie is coming out and this was after Dave D forwarded me a link to a story about Fight Club - The Musical may be coming to Broadway.
The next post will have to be about Hooker now that I am thinking about Fight Club and Chuck Palahniuk.

I have been listening to messages, spin and posturing during the long long American election season but this morning everything just perked up. No one could have guessed what was going to happen this year for the final election campaign in the sprint to November 4 2008 and the US presidential election.
First a bit of a history.
Barack Obama kicks a tough campaign against a woman, Hillary Clinton for the democrats. Either way it was going to be a black man or a woman for the democrats which gives them long odds against the republicans. Barack wins and then there is the dram team, no wait maybe instead of picking the woman he should go with the safe pick, an old guy that has been in the senate for 34 years, Joe Biden. Whatever, I got the email last Saturday and yes I resigned myself to boredom for two+ months.
Who does Barack go against? John McCain, the oldest guy ever to become president, if he can beat Barack and the other old guy. After last nights speech in a football stadium I was thinking that next weeks Republican convention would be boring to watch but this morning I had a surprise…
Sarah Palin of Alaska. I had never heard of this lady but she says that she kind of snuck in to become governor of Alaska and blah blah blah. But wait back in 1984 Sarah Palin finished second in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant.
So with Google being such a good friend of mine I decided to chack and see waht Sarah Palin looks like and wow, next week will be very interesting as you can see in this pic in the post here.
I have not seen video yet so I can not confirm it but it really looks like Sarah Palin is a lot hotter than Geraldine Ferraro was when she ran as a VP candidate a few years ago.
Now, one last bit of mud to sling. John McCain has a bit of a history as a womanizer so I have to wonder what his wife is thinking about this pick. Oh, and where will Bill Clinton be on the campaign trail.

The race is coming, the race is coming
Just three more weeks until the start of the 13th season of the Amazing Race on CBS.
An ex-NFL player and his estranged wife, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and her actor brother, recent divorcees, a pair of Southern belles and fraternity brothers are among the 11 two-person teams hurrying for the finish line — and the $1 million grand prize — on the upcoming 13th edition of CBS’ “The Amazing Race.”
Another team competing is geeky best friends Mark Yturralde, 41, and Bill Hahler, 42. The Comic-Con treasurer and student aid administrator from San Diego have been pals for over 20 years and have auditioned for “The Amazing Race” since the long-running reality series’ third season. The superhero and gaming aficionados said they left their toys at home during the race.

I just saw on the Inquisitor website this tattoo of the Twitter Fail Whale. Anyone that uses Twitter knows that it goes down once in a while (most days anyway) but Twitter is a great nad fun way to keep up with lots of people using 140 character messages forwarded to all that follow you while you get hte messages from anyone that you follow…in real time.
Well I really like Twitter now but next year maybe not, in 10 years I suspect for sure Twitter will just be a faint memory for me.
This all goes back to this tattoo. Years ago I thought it would be cool to get my hotmail address tattooed to my shoulder. Fortunately for me I tend to take the lazy way out and now I know that I am much to flaky to take the responsibility to get a tattoo.
That is exactly what this guy or girl shoud have thought before laying down the bucks for a new tat.
