I guess the garbage planet of Wall-e is not as far away as that movie made it look.

Well he gets home and I ask hime about the handcuffs and he told me that my 8 year old daughter had told him that they are special Valentines Day handcuffs and the way they are supposed to work is this:

On Valentines day you can kiss anyone. If you are worried that they are going to run then you can handcuff them so that they can’t get away. The red furry handcuffs are special handcuffs for this ust for Valentines day.

This morning I woke up after haveing a great nights sleep and had to go for a bit of a drive. Where did the family fo? Well we went ot see a pappy and start looking at cars.

Well in the end we bought the cute little puppy but will not be able to bring it home for a few weeks. So now we have to find a name for the dog. Derby? Frodo? Yippe-kai-yay-derby? Do good names yet.

After the dog we went and had some fast food lunch and then went to start looking at minivans to replace the not very reliable Aztek. Looking very quickly turned into buying and now we will have a very middle class-soccer momish-boring Gand Caravan Minivan. I will survive but I am one step closer to the Porsche and hooker midlife crisis that I always threaten everyone arouond with.

And the mouse. We got a mouse in our basement and last night I set traps covered in peanut butter, this morning I woke up to find four mouse traps licked clean of peanut butter. Don’t think this is the end, don’t tell the mice but I have now stuck chocolate to the top of more peanut butter. Lets see if I have killed a mouse by dawn.

Well I really like Twitter now but next year maybe not, in 10 years I suspect for sure Twitter will just be a faint memory for me.

This all goes back to this tattoo. Years ago I thought it would be cool to get my hotmail address tattooed to my shoulder. Fortunately for me I tend to take the lazy way out and now I know that I am much to flaky to take the responsibility to get a tattoo.

That is exactly what this guy or girl shoud have thought before laying down the bucks for a new tat.

Now that she is 8 I am a little worried that she is going to start thinking that I am the man and will not trust me.

Come on, it is some YTV show for kids, educational to a 4 yeat old but I am not supposed to be watching.

Now Spongebob is on. I guess this is better? No….

I am going to be 4 today and see how life is for a 4 year old.

I for one am looking forward to spending more time with my family over the next few months instead of watching my 10 hours a week of TV. What happens if I decide not to go back to watching?

being at a northern latitude in the middle of Winter here in Calgary we will have a 5 hour or so day while in summer the day nearly does not end. I get up in Summer and it is already well past the 5:00 dawn and go to bed during the evening at 10:00 when the sun is about to set. In Winter, in the deep of Winter I will not see the sun until about 9:00 in the morning and if I leave work at 5:00 it is already dark.

We are getting closer to that dark time then the all day of sun. It could be worse though, it is probably raining in Vancouver right now.

My wife and I have a pretty clean lifestyle, I will have a beer or two occasionally and my wife stopped drinking any alcohol when she got pregnant with our first child and has not had a drink since so I think that from a drug abuse standpoint we are almost model citizens.

So in saying this I have to say that just the fact that my mother in law has a drug dealer is horrifying to my wife and she is always angry that money her mom spends on food goes to buying pot.

Did I go off topic again? Yes what else is new. Anyway, I am driving my mother in law to the train station and the conversation goes like this.

“I think the train stops running at 1:00 or so”

“Thats ok I am just going downtown and then coming straight home”

“Really? Why are you bothering to go downtown at all then?”

“To get some pot, my guy is 63 and goes to bed early so I am just getting it and going home”

“Oh” (I still can’t believe she takes a bus or train for an hour to score dope but that’s her business)

“The guy I used to go to had HIV and died a few weeks ago I didn’t even know but I found out from his boyfriend”

“Really? your dealer had AIDS?”

“Yes, that’s pretty sad he was only 41″

Why do I tell a crazy short story like this about my mother in law? Well I think I have known about a dozen or so closeted or not gay guys in my whole life and the quietness in the car was because I was thinking that somehow the biggest epidemic that I have known in my lifetime is absolutely not a part of my life. I have never known anyone with AIDS or HIV and do not see any of it in my life except the occasional story on TV, I never even see it in my RSS feeds that I read. Has Aids disappeared from view in North America. It seems the only stories we see now about it are the aids babies in Africa stories.
