I just noticed over at IMDB that there is a new Chips movie about to start filming any day now with the job of Ponch going to Wilmer Valderrama, the kid from That 70′s show as well as ex-boyfriend to Lindsay Lohan. I am still not sure why I am on such a quest to get Chips released on DVD but I am sure that the release of this movie with a star in one of the roles should really help to get the DVDs released so that I can see the original Chips crew of John and Ponch with John hanging out with his big truck and Ponch hitting on all the cute California girls.
The new Chips movie has been written by Paul Kaplan who was one of the writers for Hermans Head as well as Spin City as well as the George Lopez show. Paul Kaplan has not done any movies yet so there is no track record for us to judge how good Chips is going to be. Although Eric Estrada has been working on this Chips movie in the past I am not sure how involved he is now that Geroge Lopez is not playing his role, although in my eyes Wilmer is probably a better fit at his age. No word at all on what Larry Wilcox who played John is doing now or even if he is working on this new movie
