Lemonade Stand

Taylor has been asking for the last few days if she could have a lemonade stand and the idea seemed to be a pretty good one, we live on a busier street, there is a lot of walking traffic and she was bugging me a lot about it.

Yesterday I relented with the lemonade stand even though it was a weekday and so the whole operation got ramped up in about 10 minutes. We made a sign, taped it to a table made lemonade (from a can) and set up everything at the end of our walkway at the sidewalk. Lots of people came by some by foot and some stopping there cars adn trucks right in front of the stand. Even though the lemonade was supposed to be only 25 cents a couple people dropped in toonies and the lemonade flowed fast thanks to the bigger than everage cups.

In 30 minutes Taylor hauled in a cool $7.25 in her first lemonade stand venture.

Hit by a rental car

Yesterday while I was on my way into work walking from the bus stop a couple blocks from work I got side swiped by a car breaking off the passenger side mirror. The car was a rental driven by a Hertz employee and even though it must have been obvious that he hit me he never stopped. I ran over to the Hertz rental office with a guy that witnessed my pummeling by the car and saw the car there with the mirror broken and the employee coming out of it. The driver initially claimed that he did not know that he hit me. I spoke to the manager and he was friendly and apologetic but I have not heard squat since I left their office leading me to believe that Hertz condones employee hit and run violations. I will see if anything happens today and will be calling Hertz Canada and letting them know about my poor treatment.

And we will have to see how quickly my back recovers from having it smash off a car mirror

Lonely days

Well I drove Michelle, Taylor and Jaiden to the airport this morning and they are off for a 9 day journey to Abbotsford to visit people and have a bit of time away from home.

The house is pretty quiet and I have been getting a lot of householde stuff done but I am sure that I will have trouble sleeping tonight in the quiet house. Taylor is a bit of a crazy kid in the evenings and Jaiden is kind of quiet but cranky at night but I grew up with a lot of noise in the house and always struggle with the quiet of an empty house.
